Although the form is achieved marked visual differences from here to completion are difficult to portray with photos and little to see evolving.

For the purposes of this exercise a coating of dye is applied so the progression can be a little easier viewed in the few following images.

Carved Jade Uroboros

A medium sanding on a 4" pneumatic sanding drum smoothes all the outer surfaces.
The remaining process of finishing is ninety percent hand work and requires much the same time as to carve.

Two repeated steps of hand rubbing, largely with individually shaped silicon carbide slip sticks.
A medium grit size followed by a fine prior to sanding and polishing.
